The Instigators
Team 1596
Sault Area Career Center/Lake Superior State University/The Instigators
Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan

Team 1596-The Instigators is a FIRST Robotics team from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan that started in 2005. It was a combination of Korah Collegiate students and Sault Area High School students. We also had a few students that were from area high schools that attended career center classes at Sault High.

Team 1596 was very successful in 2005. At the Great Lakes Regional; we won the Website Award, Highest Rookie Seed, and the Rookie All-Star Award. We were also awarded the Highest Rookie Seed Award at the Greater Toronto Regional. Which provided our team the chance to compete at the national competition in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Instigators made a loud mark in 2006 winning the DaimlerChrysler Team Spirit award at the Greater Toronto Regional and at the Great Lakes Regional. The team's overall record in 2006 was fourteen wins, fourteen losses, and 0 ties.

After the 2006 season, Team 1596 split up into two different teams because of the large number of participants (about 70). Korah Collegiate started their own FIRST Robotics team, Team 1535-The Knights of Alloy,
and have been successful in their years as a team.

Although Team 1596 only went to one competition in 2007, the season was a successful one. We went to the Great Lakes Regional once again and made it to the semi-finals. The overall record was nine wins, six losses, and two ties.

The Instigators saw a new regional competition in 2008. We went to the West Michigan Regional in Allendale, Michigan and competed against 53 other teams. Our record was six wins, nine losses, and one tie.

Team 1596 saw a brand new style of competition in 2009. FIRST in Michigan began a pilot program for all FIRST Michigan teams. New to the competition style was the introduction of district events. This year was very successful for Team 1596, we went to the Traverse City District Event and finished third. We also went to the Troy-Athens District Event and had our best finish of second. With the combination of these two finishes, we were qualified for the State Championship event in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Overall, The Instigators finished 26th in the entire state.
